We'll test your eye, your judgment, and how you make an edit work with what you're given.
This is a practice exercise, not client work. The footage and brief are provided by Vidpros purely to assess your editing, and your submission will never be used commercially or delivered to a client. In return, the materials remain proprietary to Vidpros: please do not publish, distribute, or use them or your submission in portfolios, social media, or any other public or commercial context.
This is a practice brief, not real client work. Splitframe is a fictional brand, and the brief is designed to mimic how our clients typically send in their requests. Nothing you produce here will be used commercially. It is only used to assess your work. You're getting the client's brief and a first-pass timeline from our in-house tool. Take it to client-ready.
Start with the brief. The fictional client's request is in the Brief document in the master folder. Treat it the way you would treat a real order.
You're getting a first pass, not raw footage. Our in-house tool already cut the video and built the graphics, captions and sound. Your job is to take it to client-ready.
The one constraint. The graphics are flattened .mov files. You can't open or re-render them, so treat them as footage. Everything about how they sit on the timeline is yours: keep, remove, move, resize, retime, trim, mask, crop, layer. The same goes for the audio. Treat this as a first draft. Nothing in it is final.
Open it in Premiere Pro. Unzip the package, then File › Import the XML. The README inside explains the tracks and how to relink.
Deliver three things in one shared folder: Test.mp4 (1080 x 1920, 28 to 32 seconds), Test.xml (File › Export › Final Cut Pro XML) and your notes (about 150 to 400 words: what you changed and why, with timecodes, and anything you would change if you could re-render a graphic).
Your notes count. Explain the calls you made. Keeping something and saying why is as valid as changing it.
Put Test.mp4, Test.xml and your notes in one shared folder (Google Drive, Dropbox or similar) and submit its link. Make sure the folder is accessible before submitting. We'll get back to you with your result within 3 business days.
